1. CHECKING FOR .NET FRAMEWORK INSTALLATION
For MyNet Universe Desktop Version to run, the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 must be installed on your computer. If you do not know if .Net 2.0 Framework is installed, click the Check for .Net Framework Installation button to download a diagnostic tool that will look for it on your computer.
After the download is complete, double click the DotNetVersionChecker.exe file to check for the .Net 2.0 Framework. If version 2.0.50727 is listed under their Installed .NET Runtime(s) section, then you have .Net 2.0 installed and you may continue to Install MyNet Universe.
If you do not have the .Net 2.0 Framework on your computer, click Install the latest Version of the .Net Framework button. You must restart your computer after installing the .Net 2.0 Framework.

Bandwidth
You will need a broadband connection to use your MyNetU Licenses. Your bandwidth (the amount of data that can be transmitted in a fixed amount of time) may vary based on factors such as the amount of traffic on the network, the number of people using your Internet connection, and whether you are downloading or streaming something.
. Webcam - While a webcam is not necessary, your friends will not be able to see you during your audio/video meeting without a webcam. When buying a webcam, be sure to get one that will produce good quality video. You can often judge the quality of video by the price. Something in the $30-$50 range should work great.
. Headset - Although MyNetU uses echo control cancellation software to improve the sound quality of your conversation, the built-in speakers and microphone on your computer may cause some echo. We recommend using a headset (headphones with a microphone) for the best audio quality. If you have a microphone built into your computer or laptop a set of regular headphones will get rid of any echo.
. Computer - Even if your computer meets the system requirements for using MyNetU, you may notice issues with the video if you are on an older computer, or have a lot of programs running at one time. Close all unnecessary applications you may be running and make sure your laptop is plugged into a power outlet.
Lighting
It is important to have good lighting when you are using MyNetU. If your video looks dim or washed out, try moving the location and brightness of your lighting. Below are some common problems with bad lighting and some suggestions to fix them:
. Dim video - Try turning on more lights or moving to an area where there is more light.
. The room is bright but the image is dim - The camera adjusts its sensitivity to the background instead of you. Try positioning yourself so the light source is in front of you.
. Grainy video - To compensate for the lack of light, cameras often adjust their sensitivity. Try turning another light on, or facing the light source.
. Your image looks washed out - This is caused by a light that is too bright (example: having a light shine directly at your face). Try dimming the light or reflecting the light off a light colored surface.
Have Fun!

| | | Submitted By: | Stevon Braun | | Topic: | PC Cam Installation Tips | | Date Submitted: | 7/31/2007 | | | Sometimes the installation instructions for the PC Cams are somewhat cryptic, or not exactly correct for computers with Windows XP. This happened to me when I was installing a new PC Cam recently. The new camera's enclosed instructions tended to skip critical directions, OR indicate that something will appear or happen--when it didn't. This is very confusing to those of us not used to these types of instructions.
NOTE: DO NOT PLUG YOUR PC CAM INTO THE COMPUTER FIRST!!! THIS WILL CREATE PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTALLATION AND YOUR PC CAM MAY *NOT* WORK! IF you have ALREADY plugged it your PC Cam WITHOUT FIRST INSTALLING the Drivers: STOP! UNPLUG the camera from the USB port and READ the instructions AGAIN!
The #1 Rule when installing a PC Cam is ALWAYS install the DEVICE DRIVERS FIRST! This usually means "Insert the Installation CD into your CD ROM Drive. It should start automatically after a few seconds." So, pop the CD into your CD player in your computer and let it guide you through the device driver installation. Easy to do, but READING the instructions FIRST is paramount!
IF you are having problems with the "Verifying the Installation" portion of the PC Cam instructions, and nothing is happening as it is indicated that it should---READ and follow the simple instructions below:
1 Find your "My Computer" icon on your desktop (or click the green START button at the lower-left of your screen and find My Computer in the menu, and LEFT-CLICK once on it.)
2 RIGHT-CLICK once on the My Computer icon. A menu will drop down. (Menus always appear when you right-click ANYTHING! It's Magic!)
3 LEFT-CLICK once on "Properties" at the bottom of that menu. (Well, it's usually at the bottom!) A window will pop up that says "System Properties" on the BLUE bar at the top of this window.
4 LEFT-CLICK once on the "Hardware" tab. This "tab" will be one of 7 titles on each of the tabs.
5 The first section should be "Device Manager" and it has a button on the right side that says "Device Manager."
6 LEFT-CLICK once on that button. A window named "Device Manager" (in the BLUE bar at the top of this window) pops up that has a long list of devices.
7 LEFT-CLICK on the Plus (+) sign next to the "Imaging Device" icon. You will then see your Live! Cam name appear next to a little icon of a video camera.
THAT'S IT! This means it was installed properly.
Note: If you are curious to see the details about your PC Cam, DOUBLE-LEFT CLICK on that little icon and another window will pop up. This has 3 tabs at the top, each with different information for advanced users. The first window will be "General" info, and it has a "Troubleshoot" button IF you are having problems with the camera. This is a Windows XP troubleshooting page, and is quite helpful if you are having problems. At the very bottom of the General page is a drop-down menu box that is entitled "Device usage" and can be used to DISABLE (turn OFF) your PC camera. It gives you the option of "Use this device (enable)" OR "Do not use this device (disable)" If you choose anything on any of these 3 tabs, you need to hit the "OK" button at the very bottom of that page to activate your new selection(s). Otherwise, if you don't want to make any changes, hit the "Cancel" button and "X" out of all previous windows that are open relating to the System Properties.
The System Properties window has a lot of information about your computer that you may need to know in the future. If you are in the General tab, you will see text on the right side of that window. This tells you what Operating System you are using (which is probably "Microsoft Windows XP" (probably Home or Professional Edition) and gives the year of that Version and the Service Packs it has. Then below that, it tells you who the computer is Registered to and a long serial number below that. Next, it tells you who Manufactured your computer. In my case it is a Dell, and gives the Model, the CPU PROCESSOR (in my case: Pentium 4 CPU 2.4GHz and the amount of RAM memory you have installed on your machine (1GB on my computer.)
I have copied most ALL of the information in EACH SECTION of EACH TAB into a notepad document and saved it in a folder called "My Dell Info" so I will have it if I ever need it. This is handy if you are thinking about updating your RAM to something higher, or a software program requires you to have a minimum of 2.2 GHz of Processor power running on a Pentium 4 or higher. This folder is where you look up that information!

Technical News Flash.....
Here are a couple of helpful suggestions as you are activating your licenses:
The first license should be for your use.
The second license can be used for demo purposes, but the other four (4)* should be saved to either sell or give away permanently.
Do not assign a username or password to those four, since the passwords can be changed but the usernames are permanent.
You may give your demo license to different people by changing the password over and over if you like, but the username will always stay the same.
Do not use the other 4 unless you are permanently giving them away or selling them to a customer.
*Premium Bundle of 6 Licenses.
To Activate:
1. Go to your web site and at the top click on the Setup License button.
2. Fill in Your Affilite ID# and Password that you selected when enrolling.
3. In the left column click on ADD USER
4. Click on Setup User
5. Your display name is what you want to be displayed when you are logged in and in a meeting. This can be changed within the MyNet Universe application by logging in and clicking on File --> Settings --> Other.
6. Your User Name is what you want that license to be named. It has to be a combination of letters and numbers and must be at least 3 characters in length. It is permanent and cannot be changed!
7. The password can and should be different from the password you enter your site with. It is a password for the License. It can be changed!
8. Complete the form.
9. The user is then activated.

| | | Submitted By: | Aaron Parker | | Topic: | Apple Bootcamp Update | | Date Submitted: | 8/14/2007 | | | I would like to add a little bit to my last posting about BootCamp for Mac's that will run the windows opperating system. First this is what you will need to run BootCamp on your Mac laptop or Desktop.
What you'll need *Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.6 or later (check Software Update) *The latest firmware updates (check Support Page) *10GB free hard disk space *An Intel-based Mac *A blank recordable CD or DVD *A printer for the instructions (You'll want to print them before installing Windows, really.) *A bona fide full version of Microsoft Windows: XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2, Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate. (No upgrade or multi-disc versions). Second. WARNING: Boot Camp Beta is preview software licensed for use on a trial basis for a limited time. Do not use Boot Camp Beta in a commercial operating environment or with important data. You should back up all of your data before installing this software and regularly back up data while using the software. Your rights to use Boot Camp Beta are subject to acceptance of the terms of the software license agreement that accompanies the software. IMPORTANT: Apple does not provide technical phone support for using Boot Camp Beta, burning the Macintosh Drivers CD, or installing Windows XP. Support is available on Apple's website. Fee-based support agreements are not available for Boot Camp Beta.
Before installing Boot Camp Beta follow these steps: You should always backup important data before you begin any software installation, especially beta software. Print the "Boot Camp Beta Installation & Setup Guide" PDF document that is included on the downloadable Boot Camp Beta disk image. It contains important information you'll need while installing Windows XP. Update your Intel-based Mac to the latest version of Mac OS X (Mac OS X version 10.4.6 or later is required). Download and install the latest firmware updates available for your Mac. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the firmware installation. Third. When Leopard comes out in October you will most likley need to go buy the upgrade to keep using Windows on your Mac Laptop or Desktop it is important to understand that this program is only a BETA and all information should be backed up.
Word to the Wise Windows running on a Mac is like Windows running on a PC. That means it'll be subject to the same attacks that plague the Windows world. So be sure to keep it updated with the latest Microsoft Windows security fixes. However if you get a virus on your mac laptop it will not infect or damage your Mac OS.
